Welcome to the open wiki for the city of New York, New York! This is a community based effort to compile as much information about New York City into one easy to search website. This website is run by the people who use it.
For those of you who are new to the structure of wiki's take a look at our Introduction.
The first pizzeria in New York City was founded by Gennaro Lombardi in Little Italy, Manhattan. Lombardi's grocery store in 1897 was later established as the first pizzeria in America in 1905. The price back for an entire pizza than was 5 cents, but since many people couldn't pay for the whole pie, many would say how much they could with how much they could offer. In 1984 Lombardi's closed its doors, but was later reopened in 1994 just down the street and is run by Lombardi's grandson. |
